Way back in November, Lyssa and Jessica from Paintillio stopped by our table at Eastside Flea. They stopped to look at my designs, and we got chatting about their own creative business venture. Amongst all the lovely conversations had with customers over the holiday market season, theirs really stuck with me. Mostly because their business sounded like the perfect combination of fun, interactive, creative and memorable, but also because they looked so damn fine in my jewelry.

Don't take my word for it; see for yourself

Paintillio creates custom Paint-by-Numbers, using your own photographs. I love the idea of having your friends and family working together at your wedding, or a party, to create a one-of-a-kind memento of your special event. They do everything from small-scale to mural-sized, and provide the paints in numbered jars, brushes, and everything else needed to create these works of collaborative art. Head over to their website or instagram page to see pictures of some of their completed works.

I snagged this shot from their instagram Gallery

Congrats to Jessica and Lyssa for rocking their first Vancouver Wedding Show! Sounds like it was a smash success! Their booth display styling and personal styling were on-point, right down to the Scandinazn earrings.

It's hard to believe we've been going for 5 years! I'm feeling so much gratitude for the wonderful people I've encountered along the way, who make it possible for Scandinazn to be my full-time gig. Thank-you for your support!

To celebrate our big 5.0, we're

giving away some prizes,

having a sale,

and launching a limited edition collection.

Over the years, I've hung on to hundreds of colourful scraps of leather. Yes, I've got a problem throwing things away - especially things I see potential to one day make into a beautiful design. Do I usually end up using these items? Well, not really... but that's going to change.

Introducing our Rainbow Confetti Collection!

5 years worth of scraps, being put to good use. Colourful leather confetti adorn each piece of this series of artsy designs. Rings, Pins, Necklaces, Studs, and Dangle Earrings. Head over to our Etsy Shop for a look at the entire collection.

From now until midnight on November 20th, our entire Etsy Shop is 15% off.

This will be our last sale of the year - and we're also giving away a free gift with purchase. With orders of $40 or more, after using this coupon code, you'll receive a gift from us of a Rainbow Confetti Ring. Choose between straight up Confetti, or Confetti on a White Background.

Aaaaaand, we're giving away a prize pack!

Enter to win 1 pair of our Rainbow Confetti Donut Earrings and 2 Rainbow Confetti Pins. Head over to our instagram page (@scandinazn) to enter our contest, and look for the post with the earrings pictured below.

Good luck!

So, it turns out running a business is a lot of work. Who could have predicted that? It's a good thing I love what I do! 2017 has been all about setting high goals for the business, and giving it 110%. Until November of 2016, Scandinazn has been a side hustle for me, but I've taken the plunge and decided to give a go at running this business full-time. It's funny how I find myself with less free time than when I had a "real job", not that I'm complaining. There are so many components BESIDES actually making jewelry that go into running a business. I'm a long way from being an expert, but over the past 7 months of being completely self-employed, I have improved my business skills tremendously. Naturally, I still have a long way to go.

This time of the year is especially busy for Scandinazn. The summer market season began for us on Saturday July 17th with the Vintage Handmade Society West End Pop-up, and Main St Car Free day. Last weekend, we were at Granville Island as part of the 2-day Mela Canada Day festival.

And guess what... we've got 5 more to go!

Although setting up a display for an outdoor festival can pose some rather difficult challenges (especially as a one-woman show), the rest of the experience makes it worthwhile. I find myself having conversations with folks from around the world, and many people I normally wouldn't run into at an indoor market event. Another great thing about doing summer markets is being able to test out new products! Over the last couple weeks, I've been busy making small quantities of many new designs, and have been using these summer events to get feedback right from you guys.

The designs below aren't yet available on our Etsy Shop, but we will be bringing them to all of our events this summer. Come hang!
