Patchwork Mosaic Earrings Workshop - Vancouver

Patchwork Mosaic Earrings Workshop - Vancouver

$60.00Price

This is an In-Person Workshop in Vancouver, BC

  • Sunday, December 6 from 1-3pm (best to arrive 5 minutes early if possible!)

  • 107 E 3rd Ave at OOEK Market

As a lover of textile arts, I've long been fascinated with the geometric patterns that come into play when quilting. This workshop is an homage to those patterns, interpreted through the medium of leather earrings. In this workshop, you'll learn about the craft of upcycling leather into jewelry, and get to make your own pair (or two) of lightweight leather earrings.

Making your Selections

In order to streamline my preparations for this workshop, I'm requesting that you make your selections ahead of time. In this listing, you've got the option to choose between Project A and Project B. Once you've purchased your ticket, I'll send you another selection document with the option to choose your colours. This can be done right away or up until a week before the workshop (changes can also be made up until this time). If no selections are made, you will be provided with a set of "default colours".

Both projects require a similar amount of small and large leather pieces, and should take around the same amount of time to complete

Project A - This project is for 1 pair of earrings, more complex in construction. If you choose this option, you'll be able to take your time and focus on perfecting this one pair. You'll be provided with 1 pair of findings (hoops or hooks).

Project B - This project is for 2 pairs of earrings, slightly more simple in their construction. You'll be provided with 2 pairs of findings (hoops or hooks).

In addition to your pre-selected projects and colours, we'll have some extras shapes in miscellaneous colours in case you want to mix it up, or try some colourblocking. We'll also have a selection of brass shapes to dangle from your earrings.

About the materials we'll be using

All leather is repurposed - coming from scrap material or second hand clothing. The paints are Angelus Leather Paints which are acrylic-based. The amounts we'll be using will be small, and paint accidents are rare - but if you're prone to a little clumsiness you might want to bring a smock or apron. We will have findings such as hoops and hooks in 14K Gold-Plated + Stainless Steel. If you require clip-ons please let us know. If you’d like to upgrade to 14K Gold-Filled Hooks, let us know ahead of time and I'll have you pre-pay $10 /per pair as an add-on.

Accessibility

This workshop may be suitable for children over 12 with a reasonable level of manual dexterity - please check with Jamie if you’ve got questions. We will be using sharp scissors and doing some cutting of small leather pieces. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult, with a spot purchased for each participant. The venue is wheelchair accessible. Please let me know if you require any additional assistance.

Refunds / Cancellations

  • This workshop is refundable up to 1 week in advance. Cancellations within 1 week of the workshop are non-refundable, as we begin painting leather and punching up shapes up to a week in advance. Tickets ARE transferrable though, so if you can't make it last minute, you're welcome to sell or giveaway to a friend. Your pre-selections will apply to the same ticket.
